DVSDS has an onsite School Nurse based at Brentwick Drive (Main campus) who frequently visits the Whittlesea campus and satellite classrooms to review students first aid and medical needs.
The school nurse reviews and assesses students and staff who are unwell or injured at school. The school nurse manages medical emergencies, liaises with parents, teachers, therapists, paramedics and doctors regarding health concerns for students.
The school nurse ensures that emergency contacts, health action plans, medication authority forms and student health plans are current and updated. The school nurse reviews medication at school and ensures that medication is stored, supplied, documented and administered correctly. The school nurse maintains the first aid rooms and all the first aid kits across the campuses and satellite classrooms and provides health information, education to staff and manages the staff first aid training.
